Ep.2 The Awakening of The Force – Trade-offs, Risk Dynamics and Incentives

In this second episode of InfraVision’s podcast series ‘The Awakening of the Force’, host Julia Sieger (Broadcast journalist & Moderator) explores the trade-offs, risk dynamics, and incentives shaping investment and delivery decisions in infrastructure’s energy and ecological transitions, with two guests who bring complementary financial and industrial perspectives: Ana Giros (EVP Strategy, Development and CSR at Equans) and Mike Nowak (Global Head of Infrastructure Coverage at Crédit Agricole CIB).

Infrastructure requires long-term capital commitments, even as transition pathways remain deeply uncertain. Investors, operators, and public authorities are being asked to make structuring decisions today amid open questions on technologies, regulatory frameworks, demand, energy prices, and geopolitical constraints. And while decarbonization solutions largely exist, the challenge has shifted from what technology to deploy to under what conditions it can be financed, scaled, and coordinated across entire systems.

From the operator’s and the financier’s sides, how do we allocate risks intelligently, align incentives across stakeholders, and move from isolated transition projects to infrastructure systems that can actually scale?
